Summary that encapsulates the overall feel and central premise of the world
In the shadow of the modern human world, a complex and fragile supernatural society thrives. This hidden world is composed of witches, vampires, werewolves, fae, and other mythical beings who exist just beyond the awareness of ordinary people. Their coexistence is upheld by an ancient Treaty , negotiated and renewed annually, which keeps the peace between the races and ensures their survival. At the heart of this supernatural society lies the World Congregation of Witches, a powerful organization that governs all magical affairs and upholds the supernatural laws. With a history that stretches back to the brink of global catastrophe, the witches established order when all seemed lost, ensuring balance between the races and preventing the complete extinction of humanity—a species vital to many supernatural races for food, resources, and survival.
Witches, the architects of peace, maintain their influence through a hierarchy of magic users, circles of learning, and strict governance over forbidden forms of magic. Their power is rooted not only in their magical abilities, but also in their ancient families, whose lineage grants them significant political and social clout within their own society.
Supernatural Beings:
- Various races of supernatural beings, including witches, vampires, werewolves, and others.
- Each race has its own ecosystem and internal conflicts.
- Supernatural society lives in fragile peace with each other, concealed from regular humans.
Witches & The World Congregation:
- The Witches are the backbone of the supernatural society, responsible for creating the infrastructure, government, and the enforcement of laws among the races.
- The World Congregation of Witches is a powerful organization that holds authority over the other supernatural beings. They enforce laws and ensure that the Treaty is upheld.
The Treaty and Its Importance
The peace among supernatural races is maintained through the Treaty, an annual event where representatives from each race come together to negotiate, renew, and agree to abide by the terms of peace.
The Treaty is not only a peace agreement, but a system of rules and privileges that govern supernatural society:
- Annual Renewal: Every year, the races come together to discuss, debate, and ultimately renew the Treaty. This process can be fraught with tension, as old grievances between factions resurface. However, the threat of exclusion from the Treaty’s protections keeps most factions in line.
- Benefits of Compliance: Those who agree to the Treaty enjoy access to the vast network of supernatural trade, resources, and infrastructure. They can move freely between territories, engage in commerce, and benefit from the protections of the supernatural police force.
- Consequences of Rejection: Factions that refuse to participate in the Treaty are cut off from this network. They become open targets for other factions and lose access to vital resources. Trading with or aiding these outcast groups is strictly forbidden, and any faction caught doing so faces severe penalties from the Congregation.
