Ran (Laurence)

will

[main character in: Will and Strife]

name: Will (formerly had a second name from his pack, but dropped it after leaving his old life behind)
age: 40s
race: Werewolf (Former member of "The Hunt" faction)
height: 1.93m (6’4” ft)

Appearance:

Tall and muscular, with a bulky, bear-like presence.
Dark skin tone, weathered from years of survival in a harsh world.
Dark brown hair with gray streaks, giving him a rugged, seasoned look. He has a short beard that adds to his ruggedness.
Striking light blue eyes.
Notable Scars:
    - A pair of jagged claw marks on the left side of his face, running vertically through his eyebrow and down his cheekbone.
    - A large scar diagonally across his chest, another claw mark that runs from his left pectoral down to the middle of his stomach, a reminder of the battles he survived.

Abilities:

Will is strong, fast, and resilient, with all the superhuman abilities of a werewolf. His years of training and survival have made him a capable fighter, though he now avoids violence unless necessary.

Personality:

Will is reserved, deeply affected by the trauma of war and the loss of his mate, Theo. He keeps to himself and avoids close connections, fearing both the pain of further loss and the danger of being recognized by other wolves from his past. He's haunted by grief after Theo’s death, yet he desperately seeks connection, even if it’s fleeting or shallow. His emotional vulnerability makes him prone to accepting toxic relationships, out of a deep need to fill the void left by Theo.

Once Will commits to someone, he is fiercely loyal. He was devoted to Theo and still carries the weight of that love, which makes him feel conflicted when he starts to try and form new connections.

His ability to reflect on his actions and vulnerabilities is a key part of his strength, even when it causes him pain. His emotional endurance keeps him going, even when he feels broken. However, his need for connection, combined with his grief, leaves him open to manipulation. He wants so badly to feel loved and accepted again that he overlooks others shortcomings. His greatest fear is being left completely alone. This fear makes him question his own instincts and stay in harmful situations longer than he should.

Rut Specifics:

Despite his imposing appearance, Will is naturally submissive when it comes to sex. This part of him was known only to Theo, who never used it against him. Will’s submissive nature has been a secret from most wolves, as being openly submissive in the werewolf world, especially among the Hunt, is seen as a weakness.

Ruts go easier for him when he has a partner who can top him during those times.

Backstory:

       1. During the War

Will grew up in a brutal pack within The Hunt, where dominance and strength ruled all. Life was harsh, filled with violence, and any signs of vulnerability were exploited. Will, though strong, became disillusioned with the endless cycle of bloodshed and pack politics that drove their world.

During the war, Will met Theo, another Hunt wolf from a different pack. Their initial connection was fragile, as both were shaped by their harsh environments and reluctant to trust. They saw reflections of their own struggles in each other, forming a tentative friendship despite their pack affiliations. After a heated argument that could have ended their fragile bond, Will swallowed his pride and insecurities, recognizing the rare connection they shared. He reached out to Theo with an apology, unsure if it would be accepted. To his surprise, Theo embraced the apology, and this act of vulnerability brought them closer. Their friendship blossomed into a passionate romance as they realized that they wanted more than the violent lives they were born into.

Shortly after, Will and Theo made the decision to abandon their respective packs, disillusioned with the Hunt’s rigid dominance structure and endless fighting. They fled to the human city, hiding their identities and trying to build a life together. For a time, they were happy, living in secrecy and isolation, their love the one thing that felt real and safe in a world of violence.

       2. After the war

Despite their efforts to stay hidden, after the end of the war, Theo’s former pack discovered and killed him as punishment. His brutal death devastated Will, leaving him alone and emotionally shattered. Will’s grief became all-consuming, and he withdrew from life, haunted by the loss of the one person who accepted and understood him.

After Theo’s death, and months of mourning, Will tries to escape his loneliness by frequenting clubs and bars. He keeps to human circles, hiding his werewolf identity. He engages in fleeting hookups with strangers, desperate for any form of connection, though none of these encounters fill the void left by Theo. His emotional isolation and grief make him vulnerable to manipulation, setting the stage for his involvement with Strife.

Strife enters Will’s life as a potential source of connection, but their relationship quickly turns toxic.  Will’s desperation for emotional intimacy blinds him to the red flags, making it difficult for him to break free.
