Summary:
In a city where supernatural secrets lurk just beneath the surface, Rayne Rensselaerwycke—an ambitious witch from a prestigious bloodline—defies both laws and tradition in their relentless pursuit of eternal life.
With a dangerous hunger that has already cost them dearly, Rayne succeeds in summoning and binding one of Hell’s most infamous demons: Marbas—the keeper of hidden knowledge—known in the mortal realm as Alister, a millionaire businessman.
Bound by magical shackles, Marbas is forced into servitude, his once-great power suppressed and his will chained to Rayne’s commands. But as the chains tighten—magic binds, secrets burn—the relentless pursuit of their own desires and the hunger for control, might destroy them both.
Notes:
My dearest friend and writing partner HughinMunin (for this story and many others) passed away tragically on 25th May 2022. I'm sad to say that I will not be able to continue writing this story alone. I will keep this story up, but it would be left open-ended.
I wish to preserve and cherish everything that we have created together and I hope it would keep bringing joy to others the way it does for me. ❤
[First Draft] completed ✔
Published:2021-02-17 Completed:2024-11-25 Words:244,098 Chapters:19/19
This was the first original story me and HughinMunin wrote, and it will always have a special place in my heart for it. We had a few ideas for how to continue or finish this up, but after HughinMunin's passing, I'm content to leave it as is.
I've come to the decision that I will mark this work as a finished [first draft] and leave it as it is to preserve the original version that my friend and I made together.
[Second Draft] work in progress 🟡
Published:2024-12-03 Completed:2024-12-03 Words:9,976 Chapters:1/?
Hey everyone,
This is the second draft of this story, and I’m tackling the editing solo (my late friend and I never
got the chance to fully work through it together). I’ve kept everything we wrote in the first draft, but
I’m focusing on refining and expanding on what we had built.
Biggest changes in this version of the story:
- Removal of "The Blood bond"
HughinMunin and I had discussed removing it because we felt it undermined Rayne’s
intelligence. Rayne wouldn’t make a mistake like that in a spell they’d spent so much time,
effort, and soul crafting. The binding of Marbas was the culmination of all their work - the
final piece to achieving immortality.
Additionally, a Blood bond isn’t a well-kept secret—every demon knows about it, so there’s no way Rayne wouldn’t have accounted for it in their preparations, especially after testing the spell on lesser demons beforehand.
Without the Blood bond, the connection between Rayne and Marbas would also feel more genuine. It removes the ambiguity of whether their interactions are influenced by the bond or if they’re purely their own decisions and emotions. This change would allow their relationship to develop with clearer agency on both sides. And if the shared feeling of pleasure is needed for a scene, it can always be recreated by a spell instead. - Reworking the Format out of RP
I’m experimenting with reworking the text out of its RP format so that it flows better as a
traditional story. That said, I’m trying to keep the dual perspectives because I think it’s
fun to see both sides of the story.
I’m not sure how this will turn out, so I’d love to hear your feedback on how it reads!
